Lacey Singleton

Prior to joining the OCFW in 2020 as a staff attorney, Lacey was a trial attorney with the public defender’s office in Salt Lake City, Utah, for twelve years. In that capacity, Lacey tried well over 70 cases to verdict, including numerous aggravated felony and homicide cases. Lacey also served as the supervising attorney for the misdemeanor division of the office for three years, during which she mentored and trained new attorneys while maintaining her own felony caseload. In addition to her work at the trial level, Lacey also wrote numerous appellate briefs and argued a case before the Utah Court of Appeals, in which she successfully obtained the requested relief. Before leaving Salt Lake City, Lacey was a member of the Utah Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on the Utah Rules of Evidence and the Utah Sentencing Commission. Lacey attended the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where she graduated with honors and earned the College of Law Outstanding Achievement Awards in Legal Writing, Criminal Penalties, and Criminal Procedure. Prior to law school, Lacey attended Colgate University in upstate New York and graduated magna cum laude with honors in Spanish. Having been born and raised in Dallas, however, Lacey is excited to finally live in Texas again and she is honored to work with the OCFW representing individuals in post-conviction proceedings.
