Eliza Miedel

Prior to joining the OCFW, Eliza worked as a paralegal at Brooklyn Defender Services on an interdisciplinary team that represented clients impacted by both the criminal justice and family regulation systems. In this role, Eliza advocated for clients who were being investigated by child protective services and drafted motions, affidavits, and custody/visitation petitions as a way to combat family separation. Eliza also represented parents in administrative proceedings challenging their child maltreatment reports held on the State Central Register. Eliza received a BA from NYU, where she designed a concentration that explored the politics of crime and state intervention through the frameworks of gender, race, and class. Eliza interned with the Bronx Defenders and Still She Rises in Tulsa, OK.
